LOOKING TO BECOME A FIRST TIME NANNY? READ ON... Any child care provider MUST have the child(ren) in his/her care as the primary concern at all times. Any task which is directly related to childcare can be within the realm of a nanny's job description; however, the circumstances of the family - i.e., number of children, ages of children and hours of the job are all factors which also need to be taken into consideration when determining the job requirements. Many nanny job descriptions include additional tasks along with the primary task of caring for the child(ren). When reviewing various families' job descriptions, it is extremely important to discuss all aspects of the job including additional duties that may be required of you regarding household tasks etc. It is to everyone's mutual benefit that you and your prospective family develop a set of job responsibilities that are clear, specific, and agreed upon by both you and the family. Never agree to take on tasks which you are either unqualified to perform or simply do not feel comfortable doing. It is better to simply state that you do not feel you can manage a specific task properly than to agree to perform the task at an unsatisfactory level. THE KEY TO A SUCCESSFUL NANNY PLACEMENT IS COMMUNICATION....BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER ACCEPTING THE JOB!!!!!
